Sveti Velikomucenik Georgije

slovo_t.gif (1833 bytes)he members of the Cathedral choir "St. George" from Novi Sad (Yugoslavia) are young students very different professions, trying to keep the tradition of choral singing at the services in our churches. During the twelve years of its existence just that continuity of liturgical life has helped the development of this choir by meeting interesting new friends, visiting and paying tribute to famous European Christian monuments and all sacred places in Serbia, finally and mostly important, getting a chance for all the members together to move up along the narrow path of spiritual maturity.

Lead by the King David’s words - "I’ll sing to my Lord as long as I am" and St. John Chrysostom - "The Lord blesses them who bless Thee" which are heard every Sunday at the end of the liturgy, we are always and always thankful for the opportunity to take part in this most holy secret among the secrets.

By sharing that love and pleasure to other people outside the church doors and after the services, we try to be hones missionaries of our Orthodox Christian fate. Many performed concerts from Kosovo, the monastery from Studenica , to Vrsac, Senta and Sentandreja (Hungary), gave to all the present listeners but also to ourselves moments of real spiritual reconciliation during this mostly tragic period of time and history that we live in.

By singing authentic national folk music and cooperating with other similar societies and important national institutions we try to affirm the real values of our cultural heritage.

Believing in the words of father Justin Popovic that the monasteries are "workshop’s of salvation" of human soul, we hope that every single member of our choir can go through his personal pilgrimage, through his own possibilities of given talents, that by singing church hymns he gets first inner peace in this world, so that after words everything eternal is possible.
